I've been thinking of getting a laptop for general purposes but I've seen this deal on a desk top in ALDI from this Thursday. It seems a lot of bang for buck but I would have to fork out for a HD monitor too. I'm not up to date on computers these days but from a quick comparative search it looks a good spec. Any thoughts?

Sounds pretty good. I believe they travel worldwide for work too.

AFAG 401 states that ropes used for friction hitches must be of a suitable type and have a minimum diameter of 8mm and a diameter of 10mm is recommended for normal commercial use. Bail out is 7.5mm

Great programme.

I'd consider making the trip over. I used to live in York and haven't been back in ages.
-
Could the literature pertaining to the use of friction cord (fastco and guide to good climbing practice) make this distinction between cord to be used with one or both ends terminated? I think this would make climbers more aware of the safe minimum diameter of friction cord depending on their friction hitch setup and it would also broaden their choice in rope types when purchasing new rope.

I've got a tip. Totally block out whoever is stood there watching you and shouting "get a ladder"! Seriously you've got to block out people who watch to fight off frustration. Try different angles, different weights of throwing knot and amount of loops in accordance with the distance. Also sometimes you might have to set your sights lower and take into account if its saving much time by aiming high. I've been known to suffer from rage.

Rubbish day and crammed! Up a big maple in blizzard trying to get a hanger out with freezing wet hands and slime running down my sleeve into my pits. If it freezes tonight with this stuff down it will be hell on the roads tomorrow

Very true. He has access but still lifts the mouse up in the air to get the cursor to move so I need to be there to help! I think one of these in addition to a projector would be great. Photo's are really valuable and I'm gonna take loads so I can look back on things later in life

Those look good but I think he wants to stay old school

There's too much choice and I'm banned!

My dad's after one to look at his old slides but doesn't want to pay through the roof. Can anyone recommend where to get a reasonable priced one or maybe want to sell and unwanted projector?

i was under the impression that equipment didnt need testing till its 6 months old. i was shocked to hear of a college not too far from me charging students to get their brand new kit lolered before they could use it.
If the brand new kit comes with a certificate of conformity then it doesn't need to be subject to thorough examination until six months of use. In the absence of evidence of conformity it has to be examined by a loler inspector prior to use.

It seems to have a guard over the kick-back zone. Perhaps that would make it safe for ground use?

I heard of one company painting all its expensive tackle pink, including van and chipper, as a theft deterrent. Pretty good idea
