  1. I did my first big takedown just before my 18th. Got my FTC certs in '91. Dad owned the business, so I had little choice in the matter :D

i did the silly thing and became a fully qualified car mechanic first, but did my first big take down at 19 to if i remember correctly, my uncle whos now a consultant for jeremy barrell gave me ago on his ropes and since then i was hooked

  2. i did it at collage, to be fair its a priority to know a pole resue, alto can happen while chogging down, all pretty simple tho, topping strop, pully and a whoopy sling around the base with a capstain, clip the guy into the krabby on the lowering rope then attatch your self and make sure his/hers head and bits dont bash on the tgree as the groundsman lowers you both, also do not remove the harness if they have been hanging in the tree for some time because the instant rush of toxins will KILL them!!!!

just relese it slowly over a hr period and make sure they are sitting up against the tree or a wall because the recovery postion once again is useless, you need to get all the blood even again.......

  3. with allopes and kit aroud there is always going to be mis-haps and accidents, but asg as nobody gets hurt or injured its ok, sometimes its a good thing because it sharpens everybody up, it is far to easy to get lapse-a-daisical!!!!!!

  4. was taking the top off a crappy thron the other day, and had a mist spray on my face and i thought wtf!!!!?????!!!!!!

then out flapped a woodpigeon with 1 wing and a huge cut in its side!!!!!!!!!!! poor thing, i proceeded to the chipper pretty fast and put it out its misery!!!!:thrasher:

  5. had an experience the other day that i never want again,

was taking a large lime down rite next to a house, got all the brash off and was lowering the top wood off its self, the grounds man said he wouldnt snatch it and let it run a little(dnt think he knew what i was telling him!!!!) well i put me cut in and ok'd it with him that he was ready, i think he must of put 10 raps on the capstain!!!!!! as the slack took up when the wood went it snapped the topping strop and whipped my arm so bad that it was numb for days, really put the willys up me!!!!! and the lump just missed the hose, he was 1 lucky boy that day, must of been funny to watch tho, i didnt half swear at him!!!!!!

but you live and learn, he will never do it again!!!!!

the tree with half the crown on still!!

  6. large chestnut take down, was a little scarey since the stems all were horizontal at the base and 2 large cracks in the main stem!!!!!!!

got the old gel done and i didnt break a thing!!!!

big old leaning chestnut, wasnt safe to go rite to the top but the saw just wasnt quick enuff and the stem split so i took my strop off with out even thinking and had to stand on my spikes with no strop while it went!!!!!!
