  1. There's a lot of snobbery and elitism in this business. It can be quite cliquey and hard to break into if you weren't brought up in the industry..

Thats not my experience at all....and I can think of very few people who were brought up in this industry...its not farming!

I think companies are fed up of taking on new staff, investing money in them only for them to leave as soon as they have a bit of experience under their belts. You can't blame companies for being hesitant!

  2. I just let it drop. Its extremely rare for it to take a big drop, most of the time it drops over several branches before hitting the ground. I know technically it should be lowered but to be honest I can't be arsed!

  3. Although you don't want to get into loads of debt, I frequently see people purchase a sub £5K chipper and end up facing huge costs in repairs and on-going maintenance. Ask yourself this: Why are they selling? Quite often (but not every time) you end up buying someone else's problems.

Just as an example, a new machine with a £5K deposit could cost you as little as £25 per week..............

    This!

And don't forget the £400 job you are started one morning, the chipper breaks down and you have to leave site. Thats a couple months finance payments right there!

  4. None here. The only negatives you are likely to hear is that it gets stuck a lot. In my experience though that is down to poor placement. Mine hardly every gets stuck. Its just a case of planning ahead a little. For example with Lime trees, it is more than likely going to get stuck.

  5. Hi Steve. I didn't mean that I run lines parallel, I use 1 as an opposing anchor, a re-direct. I run it from one anchor because that way I can retrieve it like a normal ddrt anchor. Combined with a traverse hook, 3 lines, it is a truly amazing 3-dimensional anchor system.

I put a thread on the srt section a few weeks ago, check it out.

ah ok...i do recall briefly reading something about that. Will go have a look.
