  • APF 2024 – The Unmissable Show For Arborists

Arborists will have more things to do and see at APF 2024 than ever before and more than any other arb event in the UK .

Arboriculture has been an increasingly important part of the APF Demo in recent years and around 50% of all APF visitors identify as being involved in arboriculture.  To reflect that importance the show has got some great new events to take part in and demonstrations to watch to make a visit not just fun but educational as well.

The Husqvarna World 25m poleclimbing competition has a fabulous prize fund on offer worth over £10000.  There are classes for all standards of climbers

The new APF Team Tree Climbing Challenge is a speed event for teams of two climbers to achieve the most scoring points in the shortest time.  Sponsored by Pfanner and Teufelberger there is a top prize of £500 for the overall winning pair along with a trophy and some great sponsors goody bags.  Daily prizes are also on offer.  You can enter as a team, be paired up with another climber or even enter as an individual and ascend and descend twice.

Have you ever wanted to try your hand at being a tree surgeon?  No problem.  Come along to our have-a-go area and ascend into the canopy with rope and harness and test your head for heights.   Age is not an issue as we can cope with anyone from 6 years old!

All the major clothing and equipment brands will be demonstrating the latest equipment from ropes, harnesses, saws to clothing.  Many stands will allow you to test the equipment before you buy.  At the Husqvarna arena you can watch their new automatic ascender in action and then try your hand on a chainsaw simulator and test your snedding speed.

Fancy being a ‘guinea pig’?  Shearbomb and Lantra are hoping to run the very first trial Internal Tree Inspection course at the show and will need some interested candidates.

All this and the A W Jenkinson and Tilhill European Chainsaw carving championships, the UK Lumberjacks championships, the British Fencing championships, the UK Forwarder Driving championships and horse logging.  Axe throwing also returns to the show for the first time in 22 years.

Lantra will be on hand to advise on their wide range of training courses and you can find out what it takes to become an instructor.   The Forestry Commission will be able to give you information on their Forestry Training fund offering 100% grants for a wide variety of courses.

As well as the above we have over two miles of working equipment.  £80 million of the very latest kit from 300 exhibitors.

Anyone who buys advance tickets in August will be entered into a draw to win  a superb pair of Distel Climbing spurs.  We will also be offering some great Silky Fox prizes in social media competitions and at the show so please follow us on Facebook and Instagram

Discounted advance tickets and camping are available on the website now and tickets will be available on the gate priced £25.
