timber extraction

hello fellow members! Im new to arbtalk! just getting used to this so its going to take time! Ive just started to invest in timber extraction methods. I have a ford county and a timberjack 360 skidder. I want to get work for them both so if anyone wants a skidder for hire with driver who is also fully qualified with chainsaw tickets! I am based in dolgellau N.Wales and willing to travel and with negotiable rates. Many thanks!

Yes i will do soon, i am terrible with these computers! at 22 you'd think i'd be an i.t technician! no chance! The T.j is up in scotland at the moment but its coming down in the next week or two, trying to find an easy and cheap way to get it down to wales! Its a hydrostatic model and runs through torque converter! good condition fair play! Any advice on how to maintain, run or use it? many thanks!

Drive it like you stole it! get some pipe insulation and cable tie it to any rails near you in the cab, i have been left black and blue from a few bumps over stumps in the past!!

This one was the Detroit engined one, it used to sound amazing coming down through the wood with a snig on.

I left for College shortly after it arrived but while I was there it definitely changed things. Was old enough it had a spool to steer but it was up and down instead of left and right, don't know if they are all like that?

Saw it wiggle it's way up some big rock steps in reverse; get as far as it could on it's own then run the winch out to a stump to help it the rest with a bit of a wiggle thrown in.

From what I could gather, if they start to go wrong it's usually torque converter or gearbox related.

Oh yes! there's a 380 up the road and thats got a detroit engine with a hell of a noise in it! The only problem i see is that the parts are going to be expensive! I also need to paint it properly, the cab is green and the rest is red! not good! Do you do much skidding chris?

The detroit was in the TJ's i was arround, sounded like a sherman tank! sticks to steer, and had a wiggle too- most skidders i worked with did!

Do you have chains for the tyres? a must have imo.
