I agree fully with this, However i do know a guy (friend of a friend) who signed an agreement like this but then left before the 2 years was up, His former employer took him to court saying hes signed an agreement and needs to pay up, The court threw it out and he didnt have to pay as they said that the certificates benefitted the employer aswell as the employee

Not without a few more details...

 

That friend of a friend case could have been the firm requesting the full refund after the employee left after working for 23 months..

If the employee left within days or weeks of the training, I can't see where the employer is going to have derived any benifit.

 

I admit it might be difficult to get all the training costs back but not paying them their last pay check could claw back a chunk.
