Most "robust" climbing line...

16 strand isn't 'the' way to go, only 'a' way to go. Most modern arb ropes are of the 24st DB variety. 16st are probably a bit more durable and take more abuse. Yale XTC is a tiny bit thinner than the NE ropes, but not so much you'll notice. I don't have any experience with the Edelrid so can't comment. Personally I'd go with the 24st.

By "the way to go" I mean, since I am a beginner and I only use friction hitches on the rope, not mechanical hardware. I thought 24 stran should be more for srt, to use with ascenders and lockers.

So a petzl axis 11mm, a new england dragonfly 11mm or the very popular tachyon should be considered? I'm even more confused

I do this climbing job like 2 months per year, I'm going to get a friction saver (ring cheap one) but some natural crotch should be helpful once in a while. Im a small guy with small hands, I'm already used to grab 10,5/11mm ropes.
