Hi, as per the thread title I'm looking for a powered log splitter for personal use.

Currently use a manual 'swedish log splitter' type which is fine if the grain is straight and I don't have alot to split in one go but it doesn't deal with knotty/twisty grain well.

I have a mix of soft/hard woods and all sorts of diameters.

So... prefer electric powered and budget is around £300 (though flexible to get better quality/performance).

Considering the Forest Master Duocut FM10. Or is there something better for the money?

Thanks in advance...

Hi Plwm,

I bought the Forest Master Duocut FM10 last year & it split all my logs for last year & recently this years logs with ease & there was quite a few large diameter rounds to cut, I would certainly recommend it for the home user. I would advise getting the stand with it as otherwise you would need to build up the height with pallets etc, also the stand has wheels, so easy to store away when not needed.

The ram stop saves a lot of time when the rounds are roughly the same length, I get someone to operate the splitter & I feed it which makes it a lot faster to process all the wood & get through it all in jig time! shop around & you should get a good deal .... hope this helps. :001_smile:

Yes - I got the same - FM10 last year. It's so easy to use my wife comes out and does the splitting while i ring up, so it must be good and easy to use. I'd also second the recommendation for the stand
