I would like to get more information about changing my MS171 to a 50 gauge set-up.

At the moment i have:

- MS171

- 14" Rollomatic E Mini 3/8" bar

- Picco Micro Mini Comfort 3 Chain 3610 000 0050

1) what bar would be recommended at 50 gauge? what part number?

2) what low kickback chain would be recommended at 50 gauge? what part number?

3) If I wanted to use one of the duro chains for dirty wood, what one would you recommend at 50 gauge? what part number?

4) Would I need to change any of the chainsaws settings (idle speed for instance) on a 50 gauge setup?

thank you

You need stihl bar part number 3005 000 4809 plus 3636 000 0050 pico micro chain

Picco duro chain is 3612 000 0050 (ebay item number 272353929140)

There would also be Sugihara & Oregon options for bars .

I have them all on the shelf , p/m if you want a price.

No carb adjustment needed Just replace cutting gear an use as normal.

Oregon bar would be cheaper depending on spec i.e double guard , Sugi very long lasting and light plus look great (lightweight pro version)

You should know that the dirk chain is a speciality chain that:

1. Is not sharp, and cuts wood very slowly.

2. Cannot be sharpened (without a specialized diamond grinding wheel)

3. Is very expensive

But if you want to use it for sawing through a car or a floor containing soft steel nails, it is good
