Homelite blower non starter

I bought a very cheap non starting homelite blower, just wondering if anyone can help me out.

 

I've got spark, and changed plug

Fuel filter fine,

Fuel lines good.

Primer bulb good

Plug slightly damp after pulling.

Will only fire on easy start and cuts out in a millisecond.

 

Any tips?

Pull the carb apart, clean it and reassemble then retune it, that should do it!

Did that this evening pal, stripped down and blasted with carb cleaner, the gauze under the float needle was gunked up but still to no avail! unfortunately no access to a compressor. The carb is non adjustable except for idle speed.

Well it sounds like a fuel issue with not enough getting through. First carb I have seen with no adjustment but that will be the most likely issue!

If the the gauze was gunked up then i'll bet that the problem still lies in the carb. There are some non adjustable carbs, but many more that appear non adjustable to those who do not know where to look. And those who don't know where to look may not know where to clean.

 

Post up a pic of the carb and a bit more help may be forthcoming.

I have one of these and it's always been a pig to start from new, i suspect they're very sensitive to decent fuel, mine has been a lot better since i started running it on aspen.

Ok, so this barrel type carb has the little gauze and also has a small brass jet in the centre of the main body under the pump diaphragm. it can be popped out with the tip of a very small screwdriver or tip of a knife. Make sure the hole through the middle is clean.

 

Some of these are non adjustable, but some do have an adjustable needle in the centre of the throttle body.

 

No images of the jet in the main body, but the needle may be found in the central hole in this image.

I think these have some sort of plastic throttle slide that rotates and lifts. There will be a needle that runs up the middle of it and there is usually a screw in the top to adjust the needle which needs lifting in your case.

 

It may be that there is no adjustment and that may be the end of it:thumbdown:
