diversification into tree surgery

I run a reasonably large commercial gardening firm based in dorset, I am asked often to complete tree work which I sub-contract and mark up, we have just secured a new major grounds contract commencing 1st January but the tree element of the contact is substantial, that figure being in the order of 150-200k next year,

one of the options available to us is to buy a small arbo company, another is to go into some kind of joint venture with an arbo company,

does anybody have any advice or experience with these kinds of issues, if so I would love to hear from you,

thanks

I would sub-contract it out to a respectable and trusted firm or take on an experienced climber and two groundsmen, get a chipper and do it in-house.

Bear in mind you'll then need to comply to all the HSE, get additional insurance etc etc.

You could run a 3 man team with chipper full time for a year and make a profit on 150k.
