A.ostoyae or Pholiota

Good evening all

here is a pic passed to me today. A group of small knobblies at the base of semi-mature lime.

Not a very good , clear pic I know but all I've got to work on.

It looks to me that it shows a emerging group of A. ostoyae but the crazy paving effect on the cap top is similar to some Pholiota I saw the other day.

What d'ya think?

Thanks

Sorry...I dont mean volva...I was referring to the ring, present under the cap in some species, at the top of the stem....aka, ring....my bad!

I say! volva, ring, cap and stem....... Seems like I've been diverted to a Carry On forum. I bet I get a response from Ivor Biggun next.

Thanks for your response, I will get the chap to check his ring.

:laugh1:

With the absence of perceivable stem in your shot, It does occur to me that these may be a troop of Sclerodermas - earthballs?

Although the colour appears a little too vivid, but I'm tending to not trust photos these days.

Can you describe the soil type a little more?

Cheers
