Hi my dad lives in Italy in Vasto, near Pescara. He has had a terrible year with the olives, worms have reduced his yeald from 4 ton down to just under half ton of olives which is disastrous. Apparently there is concern about using To much chemical to kill the pests. I am flying out in summer to see if there an alternative as the 10 acres of olive trees now belong to me as dad has handed them over to me and I am curious to see if I can turn the production around.

I've been working in Brindisi, near this area for the past few months. The potential for spread is colossal because intensive olive cultivation is so widespread. When you drive down the motorway it's just olive groves as far as you can see. Terrifying.
