Soil decompaction ''prevention better than cure''

Just recently I've been called out to try and work wonders on some mature trees, suffering from horrendous soil compaction problems. The cause of the soil compaction in many cases has been human traffic. Compaction isn't always caused by heavy plant and machinery etc

I looked at a mature oak a few days back, that was living in soil so compacted even the ''Air-Spade'' struggled to relieve the compaction.

Soil decompaction, is all about ''prevention rather than cure'' imo. We all know or at least should by now, that compacted soil is a major cause of urban tree decline.

Spread the word my brothers, spread the word......................
