According to this article - it should be logging you wherever you travel - so essentially via your mobile phone's location (assuming it is location enabled) and not IPs alone. Phones use exactly the same technology as GPS.

 

A good thing about the article though - it also tells you how to switch it off or to change where you have been in each day!
