Accurate id of poplar is difficult to say the least. As they hybridise readily there are many naturally occuring hybrids that look very similar to the parents.

 

I do have the BSBI handbook of willows and poplars if you want to borrow it Dean.

Haha, cheers for the offer Peter :thumbup1:, but I'll ID mine on the deck after I've felled them all.

 

I reckon between you and Ed you have wiped out half the countrys Poplar and willow population in the last few years, shame on you
