Honda Izy 21" HRG536VK

Does anyone have any experience of the above mower?

My Viking is driving me mad (650vm) and this might prove to be an alternative.

I know the HRX would be a better option but I only have two big cuts a week so cost is a key issue for me.

What's wrong with the Viking ????? I run 4 of these now(21") and only issues are the variable speed if a numpty starts using it like a Formula 1 car , never push the lever when engine not running.

 

Honda izzys are good robust mowers' and been going for years .

The Viking was great year one. Year two has seen a crack in the shaft and two gear boxes/vario units. Loss of speed followed by nasty grinding noises followed by no drive. The engine was still working perfectly so big up B&S ) Its a cracking good mower when working mind but the second gear box went within 100 yards of being fitted by the mechanic. It went back to Germany and now repaired it's seems as if the gearing is down and top speed is around 2.5 mph which is too slow in my book. My big lawns need 3mph or my knees hurt. I've lost faith in the machine and the customer service from Viking/Stihl. It's taken 3 month from initiaql problem to me getting the machine back and it's still not a satisfactory fix in my book.

 

I like Hondas but can't justify HRX money for 1 day a week. The IZY ticks all the boxes I need and I can get a nice price as well which helps. Was just after real world experience.

Sounds like you had a belly full , my two 21" Vikings roller and four wheel I have replaced the variable pulley each at £32 each which compared to other manufacturers is cheap and literally a 5min job and both 2 years old nearly and daily use so I am chuffed to pieces with them .

You won't go wrong with the IZZY .

Indeed. Great mower though. Shame it's not proved to be reliable. Maybe I'm just unlucky with this one.
