Went out to spot fungi today...

I found this fruiting body at the base of an old oak the other day. I think it is Ganoderma lucidum. However I've never seen it before so wondered what others thoughts were?

 

It appeared to have a 'stalk' (third image).

I can't tell from the images Paul.

 

Worth noting that at least G. applanatum & G. resinaceum can also be stalked.

Would of liked to but will be in Poland with Nev & Ted in the Bialoweiza Forest looking at old growth trees and forest communities.

I'll be there Tuesday and Wednesday. Both days appear to have great lecturers and are on subjects that are right up my street. I'm assisting Paul Muir with a static load test demo on the Wednesday, so not sure how much I'll get to see of the morning lectures.
