Hi all a friend asked my what tree this is thought it was a blue atlas cedar but not sure if someone can confirm or correct me if im wrong? Also can tell me what is happening with the trunk aswell not sure what it is but he says he noticed it about 4 months ago and he is able to peel the bark off it aswell, if anyone is able to tell me what it is and what action to take it would really help me?

Cedrus atlantica Glauca

 

Bacterial wetwood, possibly Phytophthora.

At best: insignificant, at worst: fatal.

Monitor for crown dieback and branch death.

Symptoms like that on a cedar, with peeling bark too, just as if not more likely to be Armillaria. Check for white fans of mycellium at the base under the bark...
