Just a quick question mate... A couple of my mates are IRATA L2 and L3. Unfortunately they don't do carb work.

How would the day rates translate to Arb as they earn a lot more than an Arb climber?

By more I mean some L3 guys are 3-5 hundred a day.

Cheers.

Level 3 would be 30-50 an hour depending on company .. Level 1 12-18 an hour and level 2 15-30 an hour but you cant do anything without a level3 on site....

You are highly unlikely to find a level 3 that's qualified let alone current in arb work, and yes you can expect to pay upwards of £300/day.

Many rope access industries are, however, moving away from the IRATA qualification, you can train guys to a higher level & quicker by training them 'task specific/ from the off, what's the point in training wind turbine technicians to traverse rsj's???

what type of work is it you're looking at? maybe i can help

Hi Rich

Arb will be I would of thought on par with level one but that does not really matter as if using a chainsaw you still need arb tickets, level 3 is the key as you cant work anywhere unless you have someone with it that's why it pays so much. If a client needs it done with Irata they will need to pay for it

Hi Loler

It is the FC that is going down this route, even a 3mtr grag or rockface with ledges they are now insisting on irata and arb tickets, the work is for removing Rhododendron and spraying stumps. There is quite a lot of work but finding a level 3 to supervise seems impossible. The work would not be full time as it would be broken into blocks. Im not saying it is easy but some of the stuff we are not allowed to touch now is like 2 bushes on an edge we cant even get them due to a 3m exclusion zone before a drop off it ridiculous cheers

I was told by a large company in Scotland that the irata was going to bring in job specific modules fairly soon, as you say its stupid that I can find a level 3 from window cleaning and he would be allowed to supervise a couple of 1 with arb tickets and know nothing about using a saw on rope

standard level 3's may wish to avoid you like the plague, others will be VERY restrictive in what they let your guys do with regards to line deflection, pendulum swing etc, ring me on my mobile if you'd like to chat it over, 07835029923
