Many thanks for reply. Unfortunately that would rather defeat the reason for running narrow kerf (less power demands on saw ). It's not a deal breaker I can live with semi chisel but full would be nice.

Dolmar 484 is 0.325"pitch and 0.050" gauge so its either equivalent to Oregon 95vpx or 20bpx.However with rakers it must be 95vpx narrow kerf.

T.C.D your bar would be 325 x .058

Indeed. Recently I changed from 050 to 058 and hadn't figured on the increase in chain oil consumption, it was very noticeable. I tend to run the oiler at max regardless so perhaps should knock it back a little. The 050 was an original Dol 16" and I changed to a Dol 15" which happened to be 058, down the rack it ran out of oil before the fuel did...

The 086 , 484 ,686 dolmar chains come in 050 058 and I think they are

20 LPX or 20 BPX .050 gauge

The dolmar 084 is the 95VPX only available in 050 1.3 mm

What you must remember is the following

20 BPX or LPX is 050

21 BPX or LPX is 058

22 BPX or LPX is 063

And for that saw you can get the 95 vpx 1.3 050 64DL

Or you can as CJ says run stihl Rs chain which I have tried on that saw and it works ok

I have bought a spare loop of 95VPX and may well just stick with that. I haven't yet used this saw in anger so time will tell.

Dunno but once done, I've been running 21 LPX...

That's what I likely would run on that saw as well!:001_smile:

You can get Stihl RS in 0. 325 x 0.050 and it will run on narrow kerf bars.:thumbup1:

You will need to check clearance between the chain guide plates on the oil feed and the clutch cover.

Yes, it works with some saws, not with others. I don't know how it is with the 420/421...
