Is there a rim sprocket available for this saw. Can't find anything on Oregon's site in the Power Mate range. Is there another saw with the same specs of the PS420 whose sprocket fits ?

Iam in the process of sourcing rim sprockets for the dolmar chainsaws

under 3kw of power most of them come with consumer spur sprockets

The 420 falls in this category most of them come in 3/8 lo pro drive

the problem is if you want a 1/4 you gotta buy another sprocket for carving

So iam working on a rim sprocket clutch drum , i should have an answer in the next week :001_cool:

Drum and rim setups from the 5000-series will fit. :001_smile:

Those use the small 7-spline rims, that are availiable in .325x7, .325x8, and 3/8"x7 from the major rim suppliers (but not from Stihl). .325x7 is what you want on the 420.

Here is the IPL for frequently used parts and the clutch drum is a different part number owing too it being a spur sprocket but it has the same clutch as the 6100 and eight models share the same brake band

Over the weekend I will test this clutch drum out and make sure it fits 100%:thumbup:

My only small question is what oiler drive gear to use - but until proven wrong I believe the stock one will do, as I never have seen any indications that it doesn't.
