Using the hitch hiker defeats my object of - using SRT to access the tree and do stuff on the way up and then switch straight over to DRT with out the need for a different system.

 

 

 

No it doesn't. The Hitch Hiker works perfectly for an SRT ascent then when you reach the top change to DRT by clipping your rope to your bridge ring.

There is nothing else you need to do.
