Why do you price work you can't do? (Just out of interest)

Builders do it all the time, why should we be any different, do you price work you can't in theory report on, or advise on, or recommend, not having a dig , just commenting on your comment, theoretically we should not even advise or make any sort of recommendation without professional indemnity insurance , which you will not get in most cases without a recognised REAL arb qualification, not just a npt cert . Think how many people price work without a chipper, it goes on, and a lot worse. Think how many people do tree work without being properly qualified, the arb industry is way behind a lot of other industries. In all my years i have never been asked to provide any evidence of my certificates or my arboricultural qualifications, sad really, as they took so long to get.

Yep, I see what you mean I spent an overall of 4 years studying and working at college, and I've not been asked to show proof of my diploma for any job!!

To make money!! Get your name around, to get your foot in the door, to let clients know you will get any job they need done??? Silly question really

We finished a job for someone "just getting there foot in the door" and they couldn't finish the work and called us in. Needless to say it made them look like amateurs and any future work will come to us.

Haven't priced it yet hence asking the question but when I have before I've hired in a small machine to use myself. But don't really fancy using it on these ones hope that answers your question
