We've got one of these. With a small set of pulleys and a couple of strops it's fantastic. Comes in a handy box. So simple and very quick to use and no wire drum to muck about with.

 

They are a great winch but a bit more of an investment. I did a job last year with one where we chokered large piles of brash and dragged them up the hill to the chipper, saving loads of exertion on the part of everyone apart from the guy running the rope back down the hill. They will pull surprisingly large loads up some nasty slopes.

The Ace/Jet winch is great for hung stuff. Got mine from Securefix too, 4 years ago. Rated 1600kg lift 2.5k pull.

Easy to open, clean and service.
