Stihl 441 still sick

Hi. I am just about out of ideas with my 7 year old Stihl Ms441- starts ok and will work for about 5 mins before stopping dead. It will then start first pull but will stop after about 10 secs work. I can do this over and over. I have replaced petrol pickup pipe, ignition module, carb' kit, plug and petrol cap (frankly I wish I had replaced the saw). I would appreciate suggestions

I dont own that saw, but at a guess it could be blocked breather pipe, try just a smidgen of fuel & start up with the tank cap loose to prevent vacuum build up.

Possibly the tank breather, worth checking and is relatively easy to run the saw sitting on its side with the fuel cap a little loose.

 

The gap betwen the coil and flywheel needs to be set correctly - too large and the saw will do exactly this.

 

It is worth trying disconnecting the kill wires from the coil and see if this sorts it out, if it does, it may be the kill wires are chaffed.

 

It may be a possible airleak in the manifold, decomp valve, crank seals etc - this would normally give a poor idle and soaring revs.

 

Probably enough to go on for a bit!

 

Have you pulled the muffler off and looked at the piston through the exhaust port? If it is scored, it may be causing the issues.
