MS 241 c - HELP Needed

Hi

 

Wondered if anyone can help. Have a 241, it is starting on choke/easy start, runs ok for few minutes & then starts losing power. Have kept it well maintained, have serviced it - cleaned all filters & everything I can think of but this has me stumped:confused1::confused1: Any ideas?

Does swapping out the winter shutter make a difference? Does it idle fine? Does it bog? Is the oiler working fine? What exactly is it doing?

Hi, it's not running right - it starts, but won't run at high throttle & stops. Oil seems to be running faster than normal:confused1:

Have you taken it to a dealer for a reset and diagnostics?

No, dealers been closed due to holidays, normally can manage without having to take them back, but this has me stumped. May have to though

Possible causes:

 

1. Tank breather.

2. Fuel filter

3. Carb gauze filter

 

If everything else fails, clean the carb and put in a new carb kit. This video is for a different model, but procedure is identical:

The symptoms are typical of a lean high jet. I would suggest doing as morten suggested, but it may be an incorrect carb adjustment, hence why I asked about plugging it in. I would assume you've set the carb as you're supposed to, since the fault emerged

Rather than checking the tank vent itself, when it bogs down, you should put the saw on its side and briefly open the tank filler cap (to relieve any vacuum). If that helps, you need to change the tank breather cap.

 

In any case, it sound like a fuel starvation issue.

Cheers everyone. Have taken into dealer, after speaking to them this morning & trying everything suggested. He is going to have a look at it & see if can diagnose problem
