I'm no expert but revving hard indicates its running lean. possibly an air leak somewhere? Needs fixing before a new piston goes in or it will just do the same again.

It only did this before it died, the saw ran fine up until 5 minutes before this sequence of events happened? I,m no saw doctor ive been in this game 23 yrs and apart from the odd starter spring or clutch spring going or exhaust rattling loose ive been really lucky with saws

Already beat you to that Bob:thumbup: had many a machine in that has expired twice due to just slapping on a new top end and thinking all will be OK!
