Come on dealers... let's get real with delivery charges

Ordered myself a new X27 today and managed to get somewhere prepared to courier it over here for £15.

I considered this a result, many places simply won't even bother supplying outside of the most accessible parts of the mainland.

Ok - from the other perspective here - did you call the people selling the part to see if they would send it Royal Mail?

Because a website is a complicated animal - it is very tricky to work into a website weight / size / postcode. If you're selling very different sized items it is complex indeed - and so an accurate system will be expensive - this cost will be passed on....

... so many websites especially if selling mainly larger items will just have a large fixed charge for exotic postcodes... but am sure they would (or should) be happy to send by Royal Mail if you asked them by phone or e-mail.

I fully understand that its not easy accommodating all the different variables on a website, it must be an absolute nightmare.

In this situation I didn't phone either vendor as I recently placed a phone order (non arb related) which went astray (was never sent and company had no record of the order but had the money) and it turned out to be a fair bit of hassle so I would much rather place an order online as there is then a paper/email trail making things a lot easier when things get overlooked.

So, did you order it anyway Bob?

Is the Royal Mail cost to Mull the same as anywhere else in the UK, if so this thing is so small it will go small parcel at, I think, £3.50.

No didn't order it Barrie, not with that sort of postage cost, could have got it airmail from the US for less than the expensive one!

In the end I tracked one down on a scrap saw👍👍
