Hi everyone

As anyone fitted electronic ignition to there stihl 020? I've seen these modules for sale, I'm rebuilding a 020 I just wondered weather it would be a worthwhile upgrade.

Regards Richard

Not fitted one but the advantages would be that the ignition timing will be more accurate and no maintenance. I have known contact breakers to get dirt between their contacts and stop the spark.

My 009 has this ignition and seems fine.

Not sure which Stihl model it is, but on one you have to reverse the polarity, ie + to earth to get it to run correctly ( could possibly be the 030 ) there are posts on some of the other chainsaw forums with the info.
