Just made another batch and we have been wasting a lot putting it through the only sieve we have which is some 25mm x 40mm mesh. Had a quick google and found one coppice groupe recommended a 1/2 inch square sieve which sounds small to me so thought I would ask what others recomend.

Thanks :001_smile:

Half inch sounds about right to me.

Have you looked into uses for the 'waste'?

I made charcoal commercially for a few years and we had so much waste that was no good for barbeques. I started researching what to do with it.

Activated carbon for filters was what I was looking into. But the business went tits up and I lost my job before getting a chance to do anything with it.

Orchid growers were interested in the scrap charcoal, although I don't think any actually paid money for it. Although thinking back, I think the free samples were enough to last them years. :laugh1:

Artist charcoal is a good little side line too.
