What's the best way of sourcing felled timber? I used to collect 8' and 12' softwood and the occasional bit of hardwood from a local feller who has retired and now finding it hard to source round logs. It's handy for me to have rounds as my needs vary on our small farm from firewood, building, temperory propping etc.

All local wood yards want to sell is process beams, posts or slab wood. And can't get an answer from scottish woodlands to try and buy from the roadside landings round here (northumberland NE65 8DA)

Anyone know of independents or subbies who might sell like this operating in this area?

Cheers

Cheers for replies guys. Elfin what are you cutting? Worth travelling for something good. I'm looking for 3.6 and 6m straightish poles at the minute, ideally between 15cm dia and 60cm dia mx

Great, could you give me a price (per ton is what I'm used too but seems to be cubic metres now) could I collect some 3.6m on Friday? Can you load me or will I need man power?

Ok, shows how good a deal I'd been getting at £30 ton! If I can come and get a 2.5 ton and see about getting a wagon down for some 6m. Just let me know when your ready and I'll come down. Cheers, Lee
