New Meteor piston in 257xp

Just finished a 257xp. Came in with 100lb compression and slappy noises. Piston looked fine but couln't find any other reason for low comp so fitted a new one anyway. Now up to 175. P & V test was ok but on startup could not reduce idle speed. Used Spud's "spray WD40 on the inlet manifold connection" and got a result. I don't like that horrid manfold clip but wiggling it slightly cured the problem. Think I'll replace it with one of those narrow Norma jubilee clips if it plays up again!

That 357 and for that matter, 345, 350, 354, 346 etc manifold connection is a bit pants IMO. it is usually difficult to get a good seal and have found either a new manifold or a very small "O" ring placed on to the small plastic impulse connector before fitting the rubber manifold will get a perfect seal.

The metal clip is OK and have had issues with jubilee clips!

The "O" ring sounds like really good idea but by "jubilee" clip I mean those narrow stainless ones that are the same width as the dodgy Husky one. Have you had trouble with them then?

I used a fatter one but the problem appears to be around the impulse connector on older manifolds!
