where to drill on 345 muffler?

Hi Chaps,

 

I have a little used 345 and while giving it a clean up today I thought to myself it would be a good saw to port.

 

I have looked at the muffler, and it has an inner wall (baffle?) with a hole about the size of a 5 pence coin, and two flared slits on the exit point.

 

Should both holes, inner and outer, be opened up, and by how much?

I removed as much as the internal wall as you can and opened up the slits with a drill and bent the flares out.

Not as nice as brazing a piece of pipe on but it works and its fast.

Thanks for that, did it make a lot of difference to the saw?

 

Mine is ok, but a bit slow/flat compared to other saws that I have, so I don't really use it that often.

Much better though the cut and louder! You will need to reset the carb afterwards.
