if the silver is in perfect condition and only the plastic surface is scratched use micromesh, using gradually finer grades as you go along to polish the plastic. Polish using peek and a soft cloth.

Works on phone screens too

Thanks for all the replies. If I get some time at the weekend I'll give them a go. I have managed to copy a few but most of the old ones are too far gone for that.

Try Skip Dr, bought the bog basic one years ago to fix scratched PS2 disks for my kids. works really well to the point where we were buying second hand disks for peanuts knowing we could recover them with the Dr. Only on one occasion has it failed to recover a disk and sometimes it needs to go through twice.

About

Arbtalk.co.uk is a hub for the arboriculture industry in the UK.
If you're just starting out and you need business, equipment, tech or training support you're in the right place.  If you've done it, made it, got a van load of oily t-shirts and have decided to give something back by sharing your knowledge or wisdom,  then you're welcome too.
If you would like to contribute to making this industry more effective and safe then welcome.
Just like a living tree, it'll always be a work in progress.
Please have a look around, sign up, share and contribute the best you have.

See you inside.
