Variations in veteran canopy dynamics

Heres a robur, that is/was in full flower all except for the lowest new epicormic that is becoming it's new lower crown.

 

Appears to me, that the Tree is using it's energy reserves toward forming branch expansion and optimal leaf formation, rather than flower/seed production, unlike the older parts of the Trees structure.

 

Looks like last years low mast production is about to be replenished, certainly in my neck of the woods..
