What size sprocket

Ive I've just got a husky 254xpg and im wanting to use my 3/8 chain with it on a 16 inch bar most of the time. I was just curious if I'd be better off with a 8 tooth sprocket or just stick to a 7

I would stick to a standard 7 tooth as as although there will be less cutters on a .375 chain as opposed to a .325 chain they will be bigger . If on the other hand you get the saw ported then you might find it pulls an 8 pin ok .

Thats what ive gone for as I had one lying around, I am quite tempted to get it ported

You can of course try an 8-pin (rims are cheap), but I am reasonably sure a 7-pin will serve you better on that saw.
