There was a thread on these earlier - do a search fella.

 

IMO - That size of winch is too big for more most jobs and heavy to lug around.

 

A 2·5 pull would be better.

I've one, I can't swear but it's that heavy! The 1600kg one is ample. I only have it as I needed one that day and it's what was in stock. Had some chaps using the 800kg one and it looked lovely and light. And had plenty of pulling power for pulling over some pretty substantial stems.

 

Every time I look at the wire rope my back twinges in anticipation!

I have the Samson one of that size.....heavy but done some big old leaners in this wind with it..I always try to go for the most powerful. Depends on how much winching you do in a day
