50 quid for the light type pro. Probably be best for the rpms of the 13 though. I'm not a serious cutter so a lesser bar might do. Those husky bars are very soft though and I thought they were the same as oregon

I fail to see why anyone wouldn't want to put it on a 13" for thinning - makes it hande like an old 242.

Balance, the saw likely is slightly rear heavy with a 13", like the 346xp - something I don't like at all!

Some are, some aren't - Husky make a lot of bars themselves.

I get ya. I won't be using the 13 for limbing. Just thought it be a faster firewood cutter on the smaller stuff. Them husky techlite bars look a nice bar but never seen them in anything smaller than a 24 or bigger than the one on the t.h saws. Might just forget the 13 and try different chains in the 15:)

Try some Oregon LPX chisel chain, unless your bar is a pixel/narrow kerf one! Stihl RS/RSC is fine as well, but not quite as good as LP/LPX.

Of course it isn't a good ide to use chisel chain (like the ones I mentioned) is your wood is "dirty" - then it may be best to stay with semi chisel.

Does that mean you've not tried the 550 with a 13" then?

IMO, the 346 can't be compared to the 550 from a handling perspective whatever bar is fitted.

OP - if the 13" is just for firewood cutting then I'd save your money and leave it on the 15"

I have a 353g, NE346xpg and 2153WH, but not a 550xp/xpg. However I have handled one with a 13" bar at my Husky dealer, and it seemed to be just as rear heavy as the others with that bar, maybe even more so.

I don't use 13" bars on 50cc saws (haven't done after 2003), mainly 16", but also 15" (the difference is only 2dl, so not even a full inch in bar length).

Cheers folks. Going to just get a couple more chains for the 15. If the need arises for some reason maybe I'll try a 13 sometime on it.
