How do you price your fencing jobs?

Been doing a fair bit of concrete posts gravel boards and feather board panels. Been going for £100 to £120 a bay. How does this compare to other areas?

Spot on for me. The only variation being the ground. If a big job then digging a test hole can prove very useful indeed. Virgin soil for a new fence is a dream until you discover virgin chalk and flint less than a foot down.

supply materials per bay works out at £50 for concrete post gravel bored and feather edge panels then between £50 60 to erect each bay unless it a tiny run ie under 5 panels then price per job. if they want the old fence taken down then it £10 per bay plus £10 to dispose of works for me. i am off to do a fencing quote.

Hiya,

I have had a fair amount of fencing jobs recently, prob due to the winds! I was just curious how you guys go about pricing your jobs? At the mo I have been working out the price of materals (havnt been adding much on top, as the discount has cost me nothing and makes me more competitive and less likely to lose work) and then adding a day rate. I dont however tell the customer how many days it will take or my day rate, it seems to cut down on clock watching! How do you do yours? What kinda day rate do you work at?

My fencing work is generally domestic like you and I price the same way as you do. :thumbup1:

Did a job recently where there was shaley, slate bedrock between 3 - 8 inches down. Had to use a breaker for every post hole. Thankfully I knew in advance so priced accordingly. It's going no-where now though with the posts concreted into bedrock. :laugh1:
