Which fir is this? Help with I.D please, ta :)

Thats a Grand Fir, also known as Grandies... very heavy tree for a softwood when fresh felled, also very brittle.

 

Good shout that man! Thankyou Luftwaffe :thumbup:

....Having a good read about it now to try & find out about it's qualities for use in construction.

Lots of resin blisters on the smooth bark, starting to look a defo for Abies and I wouldn't argue with grandis.

I was going to chomp it up for firewood but glad I've resisted as it seems it may be okay for internal construction.

*Nearly as strong as Douglas-Fir Larch and resistant to splitting from nailing & screwing*
