Have just bought a Tanaka ECV 4501. Was told its equivilant to a Stihl but less money in the same way a can of Comma is much less than a can of Castrol same spec oil.

What do you think?

Will be interesting to find out your Tanaka wood cutting thoughts - the 50cc price looks pretty high when compared to Husky 50cc, so the less money thing doesnt apply for the whole range.

It doesn't appear to be "equivalent" to any pro class Stihl or Husky saw, based on the specs - but I can't comment on the quality.

 

As far as I know most Tanaka saws are made in China by now, but the 45 and 50cc ones may be an exception?
