Cost of Yew tree

Thanks for that guys.

I put a price in today based on what Big J said this morning and the owner thinks I'm trying to shaft them.

I know for a fact that none of the local timber yards will come out for just one tree so it looks like it will be left to rot!

That's all you can do. They might come back to you once they realise that you are offering a fair price.

I picked up a lovely oak butt today, 14ft long main length, 28" mid diameter, slightly pippy, no branches. Knew it would be a bit of a pain to collect (ended up rolling it up the ramps of the trailer with the aid of a rope and a small tractor), so offered £170. They happily accepted and threw in another 6 slightly ropey lime, sycamore and oak lengths. I was trailering the stuff away for most of the day! Much of it will be firewooded, but ended up with about 6 tonnes for buttons.

Always be prepared to walk away from a tree - there are too many that believe the myths of what timber is worth...
