I've just signed up to the forum. Ive been following your thread and I'm really interested in your project. Did you buy a honda splitter kit from flowfit or individual components? And how did you decide what size engine/pump/tank to use?

Niall

welcome to the forum :001_smile:

if i was building another one i would buy the whole kit with engine from them, when i first started this project, i had a engine and ram already, so that kit would have been overkill for me, it turned out in the end the engine i had was old and knackered so had to order a new one, if you get in contact with flowfit they are very useful or a hydraulic shop near you for advice, i would advise to find out what your powering it with first then you can match things with that so a 13hp engine is fine running a 16GPM pump which is what i have then you need to match the hydraulic oil tank to match the pumps needs, searching the net you can find out most things you can always ask questions on here and people will give you advice.

Thanks for your reply, I'm looking at their honda 5.5hp kit to make a 7.5 ton splitter. I emailed them this evening but haven't heard back since. It was pretty late in the afternoon so I expect they'll reply tomorrow at some stage. I hope this isn't a stupid question but apart from a pump, valve, ram and tank are there any other components that need to be included? I read somewhere about pressure release valves on the return line to the tank and also an oil filter but I'm not too sure.

Thanks again.

Niall
