Yawn, Yawn, that reduction was the nail in the coffin door, Remove, besides Polyporus squamosus I would also bet that that tree has Cryptostroma corticale who ever agreed to reduce such a fine tree should be shot.

 

Don't get me wrong on this one, on this particular sp, better to remove than butcher, this photo shows well the problem and additional expense than can be left with a home owner once the trailer boys have gone.

Lets go one further, even if such horrific reduction works had been justifiable the resulting stress would have if not already been present induced Cryptostroma corticale as a secondary problem .

One final point, once you have all stopped admiring the fungal mass and how splendid it looks and how great it would be to watch the fruiting bodies develop over the years, look at its location.

FM , last point, that was never TPO'd, should of been, that would have saved it from that butchery , great shame prominent tree which ONCE had great potential.
