New piston for a Jonsered 2149; will a husky 350 do?

Hi there.

My Dad just ran his old Jonsered 2149 Turbo with pure petrol!

*7&5£@!!

I haven't seen it yet but it sounds like a new cylinder/piston/rings to me.

I just went on ebay to see how much a new kit costs. It's about £60, but I note that I could get a kit to fit the Husqvarna 350/351 for a lot less (about £30). I vaguely remember someone telling me that the Jonsered 2149 Turbo had mostly the same internal parts as the Husqvarna 350. Is that true? Can I fit the Husky cylinder/pistons to the Jonsered?

Thanks people.

You need part 503 89 96-71 and the Jonsered 2149 and the Husqvarna both share the same piston.

I would try to purchase a Meteor piston from the Greek or Latvian guy off ebay, they are both reliable sellers and the pistons they sell are better than the Chinese ones and worth the money.

Look at my thread (Whats on your bench) for further details on this sort of repair - the transfered aluminium MUST be 100% removed from the cylinder before rebuilding the saw. If the scores in the plating are light then salvage the OEM part - it will be well worth it.

If the complete top end is to be replaced, any 351 (as it is a red version of), 350, 353 or 346xp kit will fit. If the cylinder is OK, and you want to save money, you are restricted to the 44mm 351/2149/350/2150 piston.

However, the 2149 is a pro quality saw, that really deserves a 44.3mm NE346xp top end! :001_smile:
