i saw mentioned in another thread that someone was trying to get his boss to have regular rescue practise, just wondered how many of us do this?

i think it's a good idea and the HSE will certainly be asking questions if there's an accident and it takes 20 mins for a rescue.

suprise rescues are a good idea we do it now and again especially with our newer climbers. cant remember my assesors name but he said to me that he regularly turns up on a site, stops work and a fake rescue is carried out.

this allows him to know they have the right gear with them and they can do it etc etc.

definately a good thing someone will know how to put it accross

that would be excellent if somone would do that with us. a pole rescue would have our boys running round like headless chickens

am trying to get them to at least put together a "rescue kit"

set of spikes, couple of prussiks etc.anybody have anything similar?

taffupatree. said the last bit on another thread so i coppied it too here

In my company we have a refresher once a year including pole top.

I have 2 spare biners a soft link , knife and long tape sling on my harness at all times, and a spare prussic in my bag, but they don’t issue us with spikes makes doing the pole top is kinda pointless :confused1:

do your boys not have all that stuff on site anyway (you should have two climbers) each climber should have a whole kit which should contain at least the minimum of two rope systems inc 4 crabs and i think a spare prussik

either way a climber grabbing his harness for a rescue should have enough on it to do the rescue without having to look for spares IMO
