Recommend an electric log splitter please?

Afternoon all,

Quick question, FIL looking for an electric log splitter to split timber from his wood for log burner.

Probably £250 budget or so. I've found the below, which gets good reviews but the 'safety feature' looks awkward on the video on the page. I've used one in the past that had two levers together making it a lot easier.

Clarke Log Buster 7 Log Splitter (230V) - Machine Mart

Any recommendations appreciated! Thanks :thumbup1:

Personally after having done my own enquiries and spoken to several people I would advise your friend to get a decent 2nd hand petrol splitter and preferably vertical one and not horizontal, with a minimum ton pressure of 6. Even a 6 ton rated electric splitter will most likely struggle on those awkward shaped/rooty pieces. My brother went down the cheaper lecky route and has busted what was two nice machines. The power source issue isnt when using petrol so there will be no need to lug cables all over. If a generator was used to power the splitter the generator must generate enough lecky to run the splitter or it will keep stalling etc.good luck...Nick Pearson, Timberline-Roe Ltd.
