Morning, we have a train operating company (TOC) as a client. The work takes us all over their network. We price accordingly - based on travel time, work involved, whether it's at a weekend, number of men etc. Look to make savings such as disposing of arisings locally, maybe chip & broadcast on site. Like herts wood we go all over the country working for commercial clients but I won't drive more than spitting distance from my house to price a job unless I know I'm going to get it

Unfortunately arb and landscaping is hardly specialist and when you travel miles for a new client its highly likely there's half a dozen other contractors who have been asked more locally who can do the more job far more cheap and efficiently.

Unless you offer something really niche like tree whispering.

I agree with rosesy web, sometime it's a gamble whether or not to travel miles to look at the job, we have an ace up the sleeve - we are the nominated vegetation specialist for the TOC, they don't use anyone else. We advise, offer guidance and suggestions, work on community projects and always get the work.
