1st stump grinder

Hi everyone!

Just bought my first stump grinder, its got to be better the the blunt thing the local hire shop hires out. Has anyone any experience with these? It's going to need the teeth sharpening over the weekend and i'm wondering would it be best to send them to someone else to sharpen? Ideally i'd rather do them myself so if anyone could advise the best way to go about it, it would be much appreciated.

Cheers

Martin

I've been looking at putting finger teeth on it as a relatively cheap upgrade to the ones that are on but I've just had a look at the multi tip cutter wheel, it looks pretty good! Would you say there is a huge difference in performance between the multi tip and putting fingers on?

cheers for the reply

Isnt that what the hire companies hire out. Camon are a firm favourite with Ermin etc. I would just stick to what its got in the way of teeth, get yourself a diamond sharpener wheel from Saturn knives etc, keep it sharp, make it earn you some money then upgrade, keep it tidy and it will return a higher value.

My first grinder was the predator 450, i still have it and it flys through stumps.

I noticed a massive difference when I changed from super teeth to multi tip.

It is the same as the one I used to hire although the one the hire shop had bits of exhaust pipe missing, along with other bits and was never sharp. It had been hammered and I begrudged handing him £90 quid a pop to hire it out. Thought it will soon pay for its self and I will only be using it for smallish stumps. I just want to make it the most efficient it can be. Will try giving it a good sharpen myself and see how it does

Thanks for the reply
